My Genetic Fears
by Eddie in Uncategorized
U.S. Researchers recently looked into a comparison of young boys and girls with photos that associated both fearful faces and happy faces in association with seemingly scary images (such as spiders) and seemingly happy images (such as flowers). The girls were stated to have spent more time looking at the images of happy people twinned with images of spiders than the boys. The researchers concluded it was because the girls were more confused as to why people would be happy with a spider.
As far as numbers go, the study also looked into percentages of the sexes for ancient phobias such as spiders and snakes. Women were four times as likely to have those fears while modern fears such as flying or hospitals appear to be indiscriminate amongst the sexes. Yet, the conclusions of the researchers in this study could be questioned by anyone trained in anthropology. You would really need to know if these children were pulled from other cultures since some fears are taught to children rather than innate. It seems a bit fast to say all humans behave as these children from western culture. I would prefer the study to be broadened to include young children from around the world and looking into the idea of a “phobia” in other countries as well. The research just seems to jump to alot of conclusions before it realizes that it needs to spread itself to the world at large for more impartial results.

I love The first snow
by Eddie in Uncategorized
I cried my way into the night till I felt that my tears stopped frozen. I looked up into the sky and realized that it was going to snow. Soon I even felt the first snow flake as it melted on my nose. I had never felt the touch of nature more. It was like it was trying to make me feel better telling me not to cry.
As I understood this message I looked around. Winter was covering everything with its white, frostiness turning the darkness of the night into a white, sparkly miracle. The coldest season of all was sending me a message, it wanted me to clear my darkness too and it wanted me to be cold about my problems. I sensed that I had started to follow its advice as I was inhaling the fresh air of the night.
The deep silent night soon turned into laughter of joy. The first snow made children all around the village come outside and feel the first signs of winter on their red little faces. They were already dreaming of making happy snowmen and having snow ball fights. Looking at them I started smiling. I remembered how much I loved winter. I manage to adopt the general feeling from the outside and crystallize every one of my tears.
